What is Discover Research?

Discover Research is a hub within Marvin to draw out insights from your team’s existing research. It is tailored to stakeholders focussed on finding answers in research data. Non-researchers find Discover Research particularly useful because of these features:

Discover Research makes it easier than ever for researchers to showcase their work and prove value at the highest level. Stakeholders can self-serve to instantly find answers in existing research.

How do I use Discover Research?

Viewers are automatically logged in to the Discover Research page. Even the view and layout is customized to help you find and consume research insights.

To explore specific files within projects, click on the account drop down menu on the top right and select "Open in edit mode".

In edit mode, you’ll be able to access individual projects from the home page.

You can always navigate back to “Discover Research”.

Search your repository using keywords

Use the search feature when you want to find specific research documents to synthesize an opinion or hypothesis.

Type in keywords into the search bar to surface relevant notes, files and Insight reports across your repository.

What will the search results be based on?

You’ll see search results based on the information to which you have access. This includes the following:

  • Published Insight reports: Research reports that a team member has finalized and shared with the team

  • Files and shared Insight reports in your projects: If you’ve been added to a project, you can see the interviews and documents*. You’ll also be able to see in-progress Insight reports shared with you.

  • Published insights from projects not shared with you: If your admin settings allow you to explore published Insight reports across projects, these will show up in search results too.

* If your admin has limited access for viewers to just Insights and Playlists, you won’t be able to search for notes, files and clips.

How do I find the data I need?

If you didn’t find what you were looking for, use filters to give Marvin more context. You can filter by project, file tags, date of creation, file type and user who created the file.

Find answers to questions with Ask AI

Ask AI can be extremely helpful when you are trying to find answers to a specific question about your users, product or business. For example, you may want to know, “What new features have users requested in the last 6 months?”

Asking specific questions and using filters to search within relevant projects will improve the quality of the answer. You can find out more about using Ask AI in our help center article.

Marvin will search across the data to which you have access to answer your query.

Explore all published Insights

Read your team’s entire collection of published insights on the Discover Research homepage.

You’ll find all the Insights organized by Research Areas. Think o f Research Areas as pages dedicated to specific topics. For example, a research report on user personas might be relevant to research areas “Use-cases” as well as “On-boarding”.

Whenever someone in your team publishes an Insight, they should add it to a Research Area. You can also add an introduction for each topic.

Explore different Research Areas by clicking on them. The number in the bracket next to the name tells you how many Insights have been published on the topic.

Live streams

Use this section to watch research calls that team members have chosen to telecast to the entire team.

You can observe the call without disturbing the participants. When you click any call, you’ll join a virtual backroom to view the ongoing meeting.

Participants will not be alerted when you leave the live stream. You can also chat with other team members on the call with Live Chat. You can learn more about this feature in our help center article.
