How do I export data from Marvin?

Download or export notes, files, AI analysis Insight reports, transcripts and videos on Marvin

Updated over a week ago

One of Marvin’s superpowers is that you can share your research data with anyone — even non-Marvin users.

Export and download data at every step of your workflow to store research and use it for future projects, decision-making and strategic planning.

Download call recordings

You can download the video and audio for each interview stored in Marvin. Navigate to the recording you want to download. Select “All actions” and locate the option “Download video”

Marvin will download an MP4 file of the video and audio to your device.

You can also download the file from the project page. Click the three dots menu against any file and select “Download”.

Download transcript

If you want to store or share just the transcript of a call, you can download a text file of the entire conversation.

Look for “Transcript” under the video player. You’ll see an option to “Download Transcript”. Once completed, you can access the downloaded .docx file with the participant names, timestamps and entire conversation.

You can also copy just a few sentences or part of the transcript. Highlight the portion you need. Select “Copy transcript” on the note box that opens up. Marvin will copy corresponding text to the draft note. Either copy the text or “Create note”. If you store this as a note, you can easily export multiple such transcript snippets in one go.

To copy from an existing note, open the three dots menu and select “Copy transcript”.

Download and copy notes

To export all the notes made by you and your teammates In Marvin, you have two options:

  1. Copy notes

  2. Export notes

Copy notes

Use this option when you only want to copy the note text and do not need any other context, such as the name of the recording, the notetakers name and the corresponding timestamp in the transcript.

Navigate to the file where you made the note. Open the three dot menu against any note and “Copy transcript”. This will copy the note text to the clipboard. You can paste this in any text editor or in an Insight.

Export notes

Head over to the Analyze tab and select as many notes as required. Locate the “Export notes” option in the toolbar.

You have multiple ways to export this data:

  1. Add to Insight: Add the notes as text and/or video clips to an Insight report, which you can download as a PDF

  2. Add to Playlist: Marvin will stitch together all the video and audio clips corresponding to the selected notes. This compiled video is a playlist. You can download this playlist too. You’ll see the option in the toolbar any time you open a playlist.

  3. Download a .csv file: Download all the information on the selected notes in a .csv file to your device. It’ll contain the interview name, note text, who created the note, clip transcript, and link to the clip in Marvin.

  4. Add to a Google Spreadsheet: Marvin will add all the note information (same as in a .csv) to a Google Spreadsheet.

  5. Add to a Miro board: Add each Marvin note as a sticky note, complete with attached labels to your Miro board. You can read more about this in our help center article.

  6. Add to a Figma file: Add each note with labels to a Figma file. Find out more about this in our help center article.

Download files

You can download all project files, including images, graphs, CSV files and PDFs, from the main project page to your device. This is similar to how you would download a call recording. Click the three dot menu to find the “Download” option.

Download AI analysis

Don’t miss out on sharing great AI analysis with your team. Add Ask AI answers to an Insight (which you can share and download as a PDF too) or copy the text

You’ll find both these options at the bottom of an answer to your query.

Within Auto analysis too, you’ll be able to add answers to Insights or copy them. Apart from that, for Question/Answer tables, you can download the .csv file too.

Download Insight

A great way to export a bunch of research data together is to store it in an Insight on Marvin and then just download a copy.

Locate the “Download Insight”option in the toolbar. You’ll be able to access the Insight as a PDF from your device.

All text, images and graphs will appear as they did on Marvin. The embedded notes and playlists will contain links to the corresponding file in Marvin.
