Integrate with Listen Labs

Bring in studies and surveys from Listen Labs with our native integration to analyze the data with the rest of your customer knowledge.

You can import the entire study, including audio/video interviews, responses to each question, and AI summaries. This is a one-way integration, and you cannot export data from Marvin to Listen Labs.

Before you import a study, someone on your team must connect your Marvin and Listen Labs accounts. Only a single user needs to set this up once for the entire team in Marvin.

You’ll need an API key from Listen Labs to complete the setup. Only Admins and Supervisors in your Listen Labs team can create API keys.

To generate the key, open the account page in your Listen Labs account and open the Developer section. You can learn more about API keys on Listen Labs in their documentation.

Once you’ve located/copied the API key, click Settings > Integrations in the left navigation menu.

Click Connect under Listen Labs.

Paste the key in the field called Integration key and hit Continue. Once the key is authenticated, you’ll see confirmation on your screen. The accounts are now linked for your entire team in Marvin.

While importing a study, Marvin will automatically bring in

Head to the project where you want to import the study. Select Add new files > Unmoderated research > Listen Labs.

You’ll see a list of your team’s Listen Labs studies, with response counts listed below the name. You can also search for the relevant study to locate it quickly. Select the study and click Import.

Once Marvin processes the files, you must choose if you want to import all questions or just specific ones. Click Continue with all columns to bring in all questions, or click Remove some columns to select the questions you want to import.

Deselect the questions you want to leave out of the import.

Click Import x/y columns to proceed. Marvin will automatically detect the response type for each question in the study. The time taken to process will depend on the size of your study. You can close the tab and return to the project later to view the responses.

If you keep the tab open, you’ll receive confirmation once the import is complete. Select Open Survey to view the study.

Marvin will automatically update and sync data across Listen Labs and Marvin once a day. You can also manually trigger the update at any time. Click All actions > Import new responses from the top toolbar.

Marvin will sort and present all the study data in three easy-to-read formats:

Click Questions to read responses grouped by each question in your study.

For each question, Marvin’s AI will pull insights from the responses into an overview under Summary. To learn how the AI arrived at these, you can check Sources.

Wherever relevant, you'll also see charts and graphs in the Summary tab to help you visualize the data.

This view makes it easier to answer the research questions or hypothesis central to your study

Select Individual respondents to read responses grouped by each study participant.

Select any participant’s name to see all their answers. You can also play their audio or video from this tab. Click Audio response/Video response under the relevant question.

It’ll show you the audio/video recording along with the transcript.

Open the Responses tab to read each response in the study with accompanying tags in one easy-to-read table.

To dive deeper into a question, you can prompt Ask AI from the Questions tab.

You have flexibility to analyze data from one, multiple, or all questions in the study. Click Attach questions in the Ask AI bar, select the relevant questions, and type your query.

You can ask Marvin to find pain points, trends, patterns, outliers, etc. or ask something specific about the question.

Marvin will only consider data from the study question(s) you attached while asking a question. If you did not attach a question, it will use insights across questions to answer your question.

Ask AI within a study does not consider the rest of your research in Marvin while generating an answer. However, you can analyze it with any combination of data when you run a repository-wide Ask AI search.

Q. Can I export data from Marvin to Listen Labs?

A. No, this is not a two-way integration. You can also import studies from Listen Labs into Marvin.

Q. If I remove the API key, will it delete studies I've laready imported?

A. No, removing the key only delinks the accounts and stops future syncs. Everything you or your teammates have imported will remain in the respective projects.

Q. How often does Marvin check for new responses?

A. Every study is checked and synced once a day. You can also manually trigger the import at any time.

Q. I can see the audio/video response but am unable to play it?

It may take a few minutes to sync the aduio/video response to the participant's data. Please wait for a few minutes after the import is complete to try again.

Q. Why does every respondent already have a summary note I didn't write?

A. Listen Labs generates its own AI summary and tagline per respondent. Marvin imports this information along with the rest of the study data.

Q. Why did a new column appear on its own?

A. A URL parameter on the interview link (like ?source=...) may be auto-detected in a later sync. Marvin then adds it as a new, filterable column. This can keep happening as new parameter values show up in later syncs.

Q. How does Marvin handle and show the AI's follow-up questions?

A. You'll see multiple follow-up turns for one question as a single video.
