Edit recordings and transcripts

Trim start and end times of videos, and clean up transcripts directly in HeyMarvin

Updated today

Need to edit a user interview or transcript? Make changes directly in HeyMarvin, without the help of another tool.

When should I edit recordings and transcripts?

You can trim videos directly from the Annotation Tool to delete non-essential conversation, such as intros, dead air, and post-meeting discussions. Or you could remove sensitive information so it does not show up in AI analysis.

You can check and revise transcripts to correct words, spellings, or specify industry-specific terms.

Edit the video and audio recording

You can trim the start and end time of all recordings, whether you recorded the meeting with HeyMarvin or uploaded it later.

Navigate to the project and open the file to access the Annotation Tool. Select “More Options” on the video and click “Edit recording”.

To edit the video, just select the start and end timestamps. HeyMarvin will automatically update the recording, transcript, highlights, notes, AI summaries, translations, and search to stay in sync.

Note: The trimmed version replaces the original. HeyMarvin will not retain the original video, so there's no way to revert to it once a trim is applied.

Edit and search the transcript

You can edit any part of the transcript by simply clicking on a word and typing the change.

To quickly locate insights in the recording, you can also search the transcript for keywords. When you search for a word in the transcript, you’ll see all instances where it’s mentioned.

Click "Replace" if you need to fix the spelling of a word. You can do this for a single instance or every time it appears in the transcript.
