Updated today

Overview

We’re redesigning the Ask AI experience to make it faster and easier for you to find answers on Marvin. In this article, we’ll cover the changes* you’ll see on the Ask AI bar and Advanced Search pages in April 2026.

*All images and details shown here may undergo changes before the final release.

When can I use the new Ask AI?

You’ll see the new Ask AI on Marvin in the 3rd or 4th week of April 2026. You will automatically see the changes and do not have to subscribe to have access to them.

Who will have access to the new Ask AI experience?

All roles (Viewers, Notetakers, Contributors, and Admins) on all plans (Free, Standard, and Enterprise) will be able to use the new Ask AI modal and Advanced Search page.

These changes are only applicable for project-level Ask AI searches (for Free and Standard plans), and repository-level changes (for Enterprise plans).

At the moment, we are not making any changes to the Ask AI within a file, on the Analyze page, or on Discover Research.

What is changing?

You’ll see a new user-friendly interface and changes in two places:

1. Ask AI Modal

You can continue to query your team’s data from the Ask AI bar on the top right corner of any page in Marvin. However, we’re changing the pop-up modal to make it easier to ask questions.

You can apply filters, switch between Fast and Long modes (only for Enterprise users), and see suggestions directly from the modal. You do not have to go to the Advanced Search page to do this. Ask questions faster, and get focused answers from anywhere in Marvin.

By default, Marvin will show you Ask AI results when you press enter. To search for a file instead, you can select the “Search” option below “Ask AI” on the modal.

2. Advanced Search page

Once you’ve asked your question, Marvin will show you the answer on the Advanced Search page. You can also navigate to this page from the modal before you ask a question.

You’ll see a cleaner, easy-to-read page, with your past searches listed on the left. You can collapse this column and also start a new search by clicking “New Chat” or the “+” button when it’s collapsed.

We’ve changed the position of a few settings. You can easily toggle between the two thinking modes, Fast and Long (using Agentic Ask AI, available only to Enterprise Users) in a single click.

You’ll see and apply all filters, except time ranges, from a single menu.

We’ve made it easier to specify the time frame of your query with a dedicated menu for time filters.

In the same row, you can ask Marvin to prioritize recency or relevancy while considering data to synthesize an answer.

If you have any follow-up questions, you can just type it into the same box. If you want to switch modes, Marvin will no longer create another branch of the answer. You’ll see the revised results within the same chat.

We hope these new changes will help you surface insights and knowledge more easily. We would love to hear your feedback once the new Ask AI experience is live in April 2026.
