What is the benefit of using file tags?
Adding file tags to your research in Marvin can significantly help your team in two ways:
Organize and group files within a project and across projects
Surface research in AI analysis
Just as you categorize notes, you can organize files in your repository with file tags. The tag should be relevant for the entire file.
For example, within the same project, you may interview new users, seasoned users and people in between. Adding tags can help quickly identify and compare insights between these user segments. Similarly, you may want to add tags such as "August 2025" to files to demarcate when the interview was conducted.
You can use this to create effective information architecture in your repository by using shared tags across projects.
To get detailed insights faster, you can filter by file tags on Ask AI and Cross-project analysis. You can even compare information across file tags in Deep Research.
How do I attach file tags?
To attach a file tag, go to "Files" in your project. Locate the file and click the tag icon.
Or you can add tags while accessing the recording or transcript.
You’ll see a list of tags that your team has been using in Marvin. To add or remove a tag, just check or uncheck the box against it. You’ll see the change take place immediately. You’ll see file tags below the participant list.
To manage the tags or create new ones, click "Manage" next to the tag search bar.
How do I edit and create new tags?
You can create different groups of tags, based on what you use them for, such as time period or company name. Within each group, you can create multiple tags. Essentially, groups are a convenient way to organize your tags.
For each group you create, you can decide whether you want to use the tags across all projects or restrict them to specific projects.
For a specific project, you can hide a tag group that is applied to all projects by clicking "Hide".
To create a new group, select "Add new".
Give the group a name and click "Save".
To add a tag to it, give it a name and click "Add".
