Guide to Marvin MCP Server

The Marvin MCP Server enables teams across product, design, marketing, sales, and leadership to search and query their company’s customer knowledge directly from tools they use.

Connect your applications and tools to the Marvin MCP server to bring Marvin insights into your workflows. This is available to all Marvin Admins and Contributors on Enterprise plans.

Marvin’s server implements the Modern Context Protocol with tools to

  • Search customer knowledge in Marvin

  • List projects and files

  • Show file content

  • Access file summaries

  • Bring over context from Marvin links

  • Run Ask AI queries

You can leverage these tools to search all customer knowledge—interviews, surveys, and studies—without switching between apps.

Ask questions about a specific pain point or user need. Marvin's AI surfaces patterns and themes with citations back to existing customer data. With this information, you can validate designs, prototypes, and roadmaps. Ground your work in user feedback at every step so you can build with confidence.

How do I connect to Marvin’s MCP server?

  1. Navigate to the Connectors section in your MCP client tool.

  2. Under the Custom Connectors option, create a new connector named “Marvin”.

  3. If you’re based outside of the EU, use the MCP server URL https://mcp.heymarvin.com. If you’re based in the EU, please enter https://mcp-eu.heymarvin.com. Label the server “Marvin”.

  4. Accept the OAuth authorization request.

  5. Configure the available tools based on your preferences. We are continuously working to add more relevant tooling capabilities, so please watch this space for updates.

You can now access and use Marvin data to which you already have access, directly from your tools.

Access to data

You only see insights and answers based on the research that is shared with you in Marvin. Admins need to manage permissions in Marvin to decide which research should be accessible to everyone and which confidential data to safeguard.

FAQs

Which MCP clients are supported?

You can connect all clients that support OAuth authentication and Streamable HTTP. If you’re based outside the EU, connect to https://mcp.heymarvin.com. Connect to https://mcp-eu.heymarvin.com if you’re in the EU.

What data can the AI access?

The AI agent authenticates as you via OAuth. It sees only the data you have permission to access in Marvin, and nothing more. It cannot access other users' data.

Is my research data sent to the AI model?

Yes, when you ask the AI to analyze a transcript or search your data, the content is sent to the AI model as part of the conversation. It is treated as a part of the chat. Review your AI provider's data policies (e.g., Anthropic, OpenAI) for how they handle conversation data.

Can the AI delete my data?

The AI cannot delete any data in Marvin. All existing tools can only read and search research data in Marvin.

Why did the AI only return 20 search results?

Search defaults to 20 results per page to keep responses fast and focused. You can ask for more (up to 100) or say "show me the next page" to paginate the results.

Why does the AI keep showing me an error when I try to use Marvin tools?

Try removing the MCP server from your AI client and reconnecting it. This refreshes the connection and re-authenticates your session, which resolves most issues.
