Marvin’s AI can help you write a discussion guide based on information you provide. It can create questions using existing interviews, your project goals, the types of participants you want to interview, etc.
To begin, go to the “Discussion guides” tab in any project. You’ll see an option to “Use AI to create guide” under “New discussion guide”.
Marvin will automatically search for any existing files in the project.
You can choose up to 5 files that you want the AI to use as reference. Give preference to interviews and documents that contain details of initial conversations. Or interviews that have helped you add more detail to your project goals.
You can skip this step if you don’t already have project files or don’t want to use any existing ones.
To make sure the guide is accurate and nuanced, Marvin will also check your project overview. We recommend you add your research goals in the project overview if you haven’t already.
Or you may already have written research goals but want to create a discussion guide that isn’t closely aligned to them. You can still use this space to let Marvin know what you want to achieve from the interviews.
You must provide information at this step for Marvin to create a guide.
Marvin will then ask who you want to interview using this guide. You must provide this information to proceed.
Before it starts generating your guide, Marvin will check if you have any un-framed questions it must include. Un-framed questions could be certain themes you want to cover in conversations. You need not have created well-defined questions around them. For example "data democratization", "how to create efficient research workflows"
Marvin will use these as starting points for questions in the discussion guide.
You can also skip this step if you don’t have any unframed questions.
That’s it! Marvin will generate the discussion guide, complete with questions and supplementary text.
You can refine the guide by adding more context, or asking Marvin to revise the tone, type of questions, etc.. Type in your prompt below the guide.
Once you’ve got to a version you like, select “Use this guide”.
Marvin will add it to the list of project discussion guides. You can also edit it here, as you would any other discussion guide.
