Best practices for selecting settings for language, PII redaction and access to your project

Updated this week

You can set up distinct settings for each project in Marvin. These choices take precedence over any global settings that are enabled in admin settings. All team members who have access to a project can change these settings.

Let’s discover all the things you can control for your project.

How do I change project settings?

Go to see “Project settings” in the left navigation menu for each project to which you have access.

Language

Let Marvin know which languages will be used in the files and calls you record in your project. English will be selected by default.

You can select multiple languages. Marvin will auto-detect the correct one for each transcript and file.

You may choose to make notes and generate AI summaries in a different language from those of your calls and files.

By default, it will be the same as the transcript language.

Transcript

To make the transcript of each call as accurate as possible, type out the list of terms that will be repeated often in the project. These may be company or industry jargon, a spelling or pronunciation of a word or an acronym. This will help Marvin identify the terms during a call and transcribe them correctly.

Select “Edit” to begin typing” and “Save” when you are done. You can type the terms directly, without using any quotation marks.

AI Settings

Use project data in AI answers

In case you are working on a confidential project and you do not want results from its data to show up on Ask AI answers, you should turn off this setting:

"Project can be used by AI in generating answers"

You’ll still be able to use AI on each file, but there will be no results based on the project data in results in Discover Research and Ask AI (including Ask AI on Slack). Marvin will however consider the data in results for Auto Analysis and Cross-project analysis.

Turn this off only for projects with sensitive information. It is on by default to make sure Marvin can leverage all your research data when you test a hypothesis or search for quotes, files, people, etc.

Create auto notes for each file

Marvin can automatically create AI notes for every file you add to the project. Every time you add a file to the project, Marvin will begin generating the auto notes without you having to open the file and select this.

Choose the discussion guide that Marvin should consider to make the auto notes.

Slack integration

Choose whether you want to post Insights in this project each time they are published to a channel in Slack.

Marvin can also post summaries of each new file you add to the project to a channel in Slack.

These features help stakeholders catch up on new interviews and reports easily, without having to visit the project in Marvin.

The settings you choose here override the ones selected in Admin settings.

Data redaction

Need to mask personally identifiable information of the call participants in your project. Edit the settings under “Data privacy” to blur video, mask voices and remove specific information such as email, account details, etc.

Marvin will automatically redact this information for all new recordings in English in this project.
